Honest Mom Review: Date Night In Boxes

Ever since Jim and I began dating, we always had dates… several a month. Nothing fancy but time where we could just connect. Somewhere between buying our home and having Scarlett, we lost that regular time to connect. When I heard about the Night In Boxes from a friend, I knew that this might be just what we needed.

The day our box finally arrived, I was so excited to see what the theme was going to be! Every month has a different theme and activities around it. Our theme was Minute to Win It! We left the box unopened for about a week before we finally got both girls to bed at a decent time. This was our time… finally.

Everything you will need is included in the box. Luckily, I have an amazing partner who doesn’t mind looking or acting silly. (Yet another reason why we work as a couple). We had 6 games each to be timed at a minute. I am not going to go through them all, but will highlight some of the more challenging ones.

Elephant March was interesting to say the least! Not only did you have a soft ball in the foot of one leg of pantyhose… but the pantyhose was on your head. The object: to march like an elephant and use your “trunk” to knock 6 cups over. I wear glasses so I was a bit blind but still managed to finally get all six. Jim on the other hand just had to show me up! He knocked all six over in 28 seconds!

My favorite was the Paper Dragon. You had to unravel a whole roll of streamer using only your non-dominant hand. Much easier said than done. Again… I did not win this one either. We also had to pause due to trying not to wake the girls. It was so funny to try it and then watch it.

Overall, I loved our Date Night In Box. It was the perfect reason to give ourselves an hour together to enjoy each others company. Jim even enjoyed more than I thought he would. This is an excellent way to connect in ways you may not think of on your own. Plus, it is all prepped and ready for you! Included in the booklet is a menu for the evening but is totally optional. Also, they have four different Night In Boxes to choose from! Date Night In, Kids Night In, and then Faith options for both. I highly recommend this for an easy, fun date night! We are looking into the Kids Night In Box as well so keep an eye open!
